TIGA AWARDS – Mali : Laureate of the e-health category

tigaOn May 4,  Mali and its National e-health Agency (ANTIM), were nominated as Laureate of TIGA AWARDS 2011, in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia, for their involvement in the development of mhealth initiatives in Mali, especially PESINET’s child preventative health monitoring program.

TIGA awards recognize African Governments’ effective use of ICTs for public service delivery as part of fulfilling ECA’s African Information Society Initiative (AISI) and the Government of Finland’s Development Cooperation Strategy on ICTs for development in Africa.

This award contributed to promote at regional level and in the public sphere the program development by PESINET and deployed in partnership with ANTIM since 2009, as well as to demonstrate the engagement of the Ministry of Health in helping scale-up our program in Mali.

This 3rd edition recorded 89 applications from 24 countries competing in 4 different categories:

  • Public service delivery to citizens/communities
  • Improved health services through the use of ICTs
  • Improved educational services through the use of ICTs
  • Public Private Partnership (PPP) in economic and financial eServices delivery
