In your day-to-day life, you are:

• I retired in 2006 after working 39 years as a nurse, first in the Mother and Child Care center of the district III of Bamako and then in the National Hospital Gabriel Touré in Bamako. I was also Treasurer of the community association that manages the healthcare center in my district Bamako Coura and have been involved in various non-profit organizations, in particular CAFO, an organization that coordinates and supports women associations in Mali, at local, regional and national levels.

Why volunteer for Pesinet?

• Child care is a priority for me.

Your role, your contribution?

• I act as the communication agent of Pesinet towards civil society and populations in Mali, to raise awareness of the service and its benefits among families and actors of the healthcare sector. I organize awareness-raising campaigns, local assemblies in the district, talks around the project on local radios… I also participated in the organization of the official launch ceremony with the Malian Ministry of Health.

In your day-to-day life, you are:

• I work for an investment bank in Munich.

Why volunteer for Pesinet?

• A few years ago, during a traineeship, I worked with Pierre Carpentier ( in particular on financial modelling). He told me about Pesinet, and I thought that this was a great project. When he contacted me again because the organization needed a hand with excel spreadsheets, I said : “I’m in !”

Your role, your contribution?

• I helped Anne on the financial modelling of the project. Excel is categorical : Pesinet is going to save Africa !

In your day-to-day life, you are:

• A graduate of the ESCP Business School and of a Master degree specialized in Environment Economics, I am very interested in the dynamics related to the protection of the environment and development. At the moment, I am looking for a jobin that field. besides that, I am found of travels, danse and mountain sports!

Why volunteer for Pesinet?

• I discovered Pesinet’s initiative while working at Afrique Initiatives with Pierre Carpentier. I am convinced that Pesinet brings an innovative and  well adaptated  approach to health issues. I am strongly believe in the project, which is why I wanted to contribute to its development by volunteering.

Your role, your contribution?

• I am currently working on a benchmark of the numerous mobile health initiatives workdwide to analyze their respective services and strategies.

In your day-to-day life, you are:

• Working as a consultant in strategic and business development consultancy on issues related to the oil and extractive industries and sustainable development, after graduating from the ESSEC Business School.

Why volunteer for Pesinet?

• For a long time, I had been interested in getting involved in a social project in a developing country. When I heard about Pesinet, I was very enthusiastic about the project and motivated by the managing team. The  approach, based on a paying model, was of particular interest to me. Pesinet offers the opportunity to deepen my knowledge of the development sector, to contribute to the extent that I choose, and, more than anything, to  follow-up, from the inside, on the development of a fascinating project!

Your role, your contribution?

• Since september 2009, I actively contribute to Pesinet by giving some hours of my free-time every week for the project. My main mission is to look for partners and donors, identify foundations that might have an interest in support Pesinet and raise awareness of the project among them. The good thing when volunteering for an organization that is in a start-up phase is that you are likely to get involved in many differents aspects, to participate in the thinking around the business and development model,  and to contribute to the communication efforts around the project.

In your day-to-day life, you are:

• I am a video-reporter and director for  TV and the Web

Why volunteer for Pesinet?

• When spending some time in Africa, I realized that very often humanitarian aid had too little an impact for the amount of fundings spent. When I discovered Pesinet, I thought htere was in this project a new vision for development aid. The approach seems to more intelligent in that it is based on a paying service which I think is necessary and pushes for the adoption of preventative habits in families which in the end allows them to spend less money and ensures better care of children’s diseases. Hence, I decided to get involved at my level and use my skills to contribute to the cause.

Your role, your contribution?

• I directed 3 films to describe the actions of the Pesinet Association. One of them is in French, the other one in English. The third one is in Bambara (official Malian language) and is dedicated to promoting and explaining the service to Malian families.

In your day-to-day life, your are:

• An engineer, currently pursuing an MBA at ESSEC, after 4 years of professional experience in the development of telecom applications for mobiles.

Why volunteer for Pesinet?

• Pesinet is a beautiful project, child mortality is a major problem in various countries in Africa. A few years ago, I started to take an interest in the field of economic development in Africa. I was born in Benin and lived in Ivory Cost for a few years before coming to France at the age of 9.  Since then, I have come back to Benin frequently and got involved in various project related to development in Africa. I participated in a humanitarian mission in Senegal in 2002. I was also Treasurer of Nord-Sud Ecoles, a humanitarian non-profit founded by students of my engineering school.

You role, your contribution?

• Research on opportunities for corporate volunteerism on technological aspects of the Pesinet program.

In your day-to-day life, you are:

• Free-lance journalist and city councillor, I am very interested in education, writting and cultural exhanges. Besides Pesinet, I am very involved in coordinating activities in two French non-profits, La Chance aux concours and Omar Le-Chéri.

Why volunteer for Pesinet?

• It is a militant commitment. I see the development of solidarity projects in France and in other parts of the world as both necessary to adress distress of underpriviledged people and critical to build, in all social categories, strong human relationships based on social bonding.

Your role, your contribution?

• Literature search on healthcare, demographics and the labor market in Mali; strategic surveillance on healthcare in Africa; editing and translation of the business plan, advising on media contacts.

In your day-to-day life, you are:

• A graduate from a business school specilalized in the management of non-profit organizations, I am currently looking for a job in the field of social economy. I have gained experience in this sector over the past years while working on projects adressing social concerns ranging from education in development, health, childhood to sustainable tourism.

• I got involved in Pesinet because I appreciate the innovative approach and because the project adresses bold challenges. Pesinet offers interesting solutions to facilitate access to healthcare for all, a fundamental human right.
